So, Valentine's Day is coming up! I know the traditional way to spend it is alone with bae, and some wine, candles, and all that other mushy stuff that you do year round anyways. However, if you arelooking to switch things up and laugh a whole lot more, I suggest you host a Valentine's Day couple's game night! Or, at least crash one. LOL
I took the liberty of putting together a list of activities you might like. I also searched the web for some DIY decorations and party favors that I am going to share throughout this post, so ENJOY and Happy Planning!
Here is my top 10 list.......
10) Pin me Baby
This game is exactly like the clothespin game you have played a million times at baby showers. All you do is buy ordinary clothespins (preferably red ones) and give one of them to each of your guests as they walk through the door. Pick a random "love related" act or word that is prohibited through out the remainder of the evening. If any guest commits the "love related" crime, he or she has to give up their clothespin to whoever snatches it first. The guest with the most pins at the end of the evening, wins!
9) The Cupid Shuffle (Word Scramble)
This game requires pen and paper. Put together a list of about 20 words that relate to Valentines day and love. Try to think of longer words to make the game challenging and fun. Some examples are "chocolate" and "secret admirer." Then scramble each word and type them up on a sheet of paper with a blank line next to each scrambled word. Give your guests 2 minutes to guess and unscramble as many words as possible. Whoever writes down the most words correctly, wins!
8) Match Maker
This game is kind of like the "Newlywed" game show. Divide the party into teams of 2 (couples). Come up with a list of questions for each couple to answer. The questions should be about love and relationships. An example would be, "When did you have your first kiss?" If both the man's and woman's answer match, that couple gets a point. Which ever couple acquires the most points, wins!
7) Love That Movie
Come up with a list of 10-15 quotes from your favorite love stories and movies. Each party's taste in movies will be uniquely based on what they normally watch collectively as as a group. Try to pull quotes from movies you know everyone may have seen at least once. Let each couple come up and pull a quote from a hat. They will then act out the scene using only the words written in the quote. (if they have not seen it or don't know where it comes from, tell them to use their imagination) The rest of the couples must guess the movie title and write it down. Keep selecting a different couple to act them out until all of the quotes are gone. Which ever couple guesses the most movie titles correctly, wins!
I thought this "Queen of Hearts" theme was cute!
6) Listen to me Sweetie
This game requires concentration! Men will have to do the one thing we need for them to do that they NEVER do, which is Listen. Give all of the women something to read to their men one at a time. They have to be facing in opposite directions. However, the men must face the other players. As the women read, the other couples have to try to distract him and break his concentration. She can only read it once! After she reads it, each other couple can read it to themselves and ask him one question about what he heard. The more questions he answers correctly, the more points he scores for the couple's team. This is also a game of individual preference. There are many ways you can allow the other players to distract him. Examples include; laughing, dancing, singing, making weird sex noises etc. (whatever floats your boat) Be creative! The couple with the most points, wins!
5) Couples be Like....
If your group of friends know each other really well, this game will go smoothly. Have each couple role play as another couple that's there. There are no winning objectives, but it will be funny for the couples to see themselves from other's perspectives.
These custom 2 liter labels would be a hit! Very cute!
4) Dirty Minds
This is an actual card game. There are plenty of places to purchase it. Just Google where to get it. In a nutshell, (inserting description from wikipedia) the point is its use of sexual double entendres as clues to otherwise innocuous riddles. All of the clues are puns that may sound dirty on a first hearing, but actually refer to clean solutions. For example, the correct answer for the clue "The more you play with me the harder I get" is "Rubik's Cube."
3) Blind Date
For this game, you will need either blind folds or brown paper bags. Move all of the women to a separate room. Place the blindfolds or bags over their eyes or face. Also cover the men's eyes and face. Then, lead the women back to the room where the men are. There can be no talking or laughing what so ever. The couples must find each other using only 3 of their senses (smell, feel, taste) KMSL!! Once everyone is matched, let them know they can remove the blindfolds. Whoever ends up with the wrong partner needs to re-evaluate their relationship.
This favor was my fav! Such a dope play on words and very pretty! This may also work well if you plan on making V-day treats for your child's class.
2) Never Have I Ever
By this point, the night should be winding down. Pull out the shot glasses and your choice of alcohol, and sit everyone in a circle. Take turns going around the circle as each person says a random statement. Again, the content and nature of the statements depends on each group's individual preference. If you have never done what is being said, you sit back and do nothing. If you are guilty of having done what was said, you have to drink a shot. An example statement would be "Never have I ever had a one night stand" Who ever actually did have a one night stand has to drink a shot. You can also make the game couple friendly. An example couple question would be "Never have we ever made out in public." Whoever is the most tipsy in the end is this most......... adventurous LOL
1) Sing to me Baby (Battle of the Sexes Talent Contest)
Ok, here is where it really gets fun and everyone should be well loosened up and may be feeling themselves quite a bit due to game #2. I'm sure you have seen one of my favorite movies of all time, The Best Man Holiday. There is a scene where the guys entertain the ladies by performing the hit classic "Can You Stand the Rain" by New Edition. Divide the party into 2 teams (men and women) The men should assign a group song for the ladies to perform and the ladies pick a group song for the men to perform. Get your vocals and dance moves together and enjoy the concert!
Thanks so much for reading my suggestions! If you do any of them, comment any feedback or maybe even post some photos that I can share with my followers.
